Events & Services
We always need volunteers to help us with the many events we sponsor or participate in each year. Below are some of the ways you can get involved:
WTVY Food Drive
Each spring WTVY sponsors a food drive on Foster Street in front of their station. We accept food, money, and gift cards from donors from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. You can help us collect food from their cars as they drive by. The food drive provides about half of the food needed to feed the animals in our shelter each year.
Be Kind to Animals Week
The first week of each May is Be Kind to Animals Week. We sell t-shirts to commemorate the event and raise money for our shelter. You or your business can participate by encouraging your employees to purchase (or you can provide them) t-shirts to wear to work on Casual Critter Friday.
Pet Assisted Therapy
Humane Education
Pet Parades
The WHS participates in several pet parades each year including Mardi Gras at Solomon Park and St. Patrick's Day and Christmas at Vaughn Blumberg. Dress up your pets and come join us in the fun!
Community Events
We are asked by businesses and the community to attend their events throughout the year. We love to help out whenever we can, but it takes a village! Some of the recent events in which we have participated are Gaudy Gras at Folklore Brewing, Harley Davidson Chili Cook-off, the Top Chef wrap-up party for Kelsey Barnard Clark and the WTVY hosted K9-Media Bowl.
