EVENTS & SERVICES

We always need volunteers to help us with the many events we sponsor or participate in each year. Below are some of the ways you can get involved:

Pet Smart adoptions

We take animals to PetSmart every Saturday for adoptions. Four times a year we also participate in the PetSmart National Adoption Weekend. We need volunteers to help set up and break down cages for the dogs and to help keep them walked and watered.

WTVY Food Drive

Each spring WTVY sponsors a food drive on Foster Street in front of their station. We accept food, money, and gift cards from donors from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. You can help us collect food from their cars as they drive by. The food drive provides about half of the food needed to feed the animals in our shelter each year.

Best Pets of the Wiregrass Calendar Contest

Every July, the WHS displays the photos of pets entered into the calandar contest at Wiregrass Commons Mall for voters to choose the Best Pets of the Wiregrass. This fundraiser for the WHS lasts 12 days and requires a lot of manpower. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved!

The WHS participates in several pet parades each year including Mardi Gras at Solomon Park and St. Patrick's Day and Christmas at Vaughn Blumberg. Dress up your pets and come join us in the fun!

Community Events

We are asked by businesses and the community to attend their events throughout the year. We love to help out whenever we can, but it takes a village! Some of the recent events in which we have participated are the Harley Davidson Chili Cook-off, the Top Chef wrap-up party for Kelsey Barnard Clark and the WTVY hosted K9-Media Bowl.
